Central Beach at a glance

Central Beach is the most popular beach in Plett, safe for families, and the hub of ocean based recreation. There are lifeguards on duty all year round, and the local NSRI, Nippers and surf school are situated here.

The waves are suitable for swimmers, body boarders and surfers.

There is a grand choice of exciting activities: dive charters, swimming with seals, ocean kayaking tours, and whale and dolphin watching trips (approved and ecologically sensitive). At the eastern end of the beach you can hire hobie cats and jet skis.

The Beacon Isle Hotel, Plett's well known landmark, sits on a rocky promontory facing the incoming waves on one side and on the other, where the Piesang River makes its way lazily down to the sea, it seems to smile benignly on the children playing happily on the golden sands.  At low tide rock pools teem with marine life - a favourite place for snorkellers.

During the summer holidays there are additional organised activities such as beach volleyball, sandcastle competitions and events like the Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge.

And there is a wide range of takeaway kiosks, bars, and restaurants right on the beach.

On Central Beach, no matter what your age, you will never be bored!  

There is a wonderful variety of properties to choose from: upmarket apartments, smart townhouses, and the occasional older traditional home.
