Poortjies, is a delightful suburb enjoyed by residents for its Lagoon, formed by the confluence of the Bitou and Keurbooms Rivers as they flow into the Indian Ocean. The well known Lagoon is beloved of families, as it is in the warm, shallow waters that children learn to swim in safety. There are activities for all ages: kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing are popular pastimes. Well behaved dogs are welcome here too, so no need to exclude them from a fun family day on the spacious beach which, even in high season, is never overcrowded.
